Press release: Wednesday 21st March 2012

Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding Limited picked up the prize for Access and Scaffolding and CNews Special Award at the Specialists Awards, held at the Hilton Hotel, London on Tuesday 20th March 2012.

Nearly 600
of the country’s leading specialist contractors gathered to celebrate the achievements of another tough year in construction
on Tuesday 20th March.

The Specialists Awards run by Construction News honour the finest specialist contractors and construction projects today. See the complete list of winners below. With the quality of entries exceeding our judges’ expectations, competition was as fierce as ever which is what always makes these the awards to win.

Comedian Simon Evans warmed up the audience with a stand-up routine and hosted the awards ceremony with the sponsors and supporters.

CRASH, the construction and property industry’s charity for homeless people provided the after-dinner fundraising casino which kept guests entertained into the early hours.

Rebecca Evans, Editor of Construction News magazine commented:
“We have 79 companies competing in 17 fantastically strong categories. Everybody who’s here in this room tonight has a tremendous amount to be proud of. Being one of the finalists at the Specialists Awards, from among the hundreds of entries we receive, is a huge achievement in itself.”

Suzannah Nichol, Chief Executive of the NSCC told the audience:
“Be proud of our industry, be proud to be a Specialist and be proud of yourselves.”

Big winners on the night included Cantillon, Bourne Construction Engineering and Crofton Design. The CN Special Award went to the well-deserved, Chris Sedgeman Scaffolding who also picked up the Access & Scaffolding trophy. The full list of winners is detailed below.
